VisionSnip turns long videos into short captioned clips. To do that we have to handle your videos, so we want to be clear about exactly what happens to them. In short: we collect only what we need to run the service, we delete your videos on a fixed schedule, we never sell your data, and we don't use your content to train AI models.

Who we are
VisionSnip (visionsnip.maarijaqeel.com) is operated by Maarij Aqeel, based in Pakistan ("VisionSnip", "we", "us"). We are responsible for your personal data as described in this policy. You can reach us at support@maarijaqeel.com.
This policy covers visitors to our website and people who create a VisionSnip account.
What we collect and why
Our guiding principle is to collect only what we need to run VisionSnip.
Your account
When you sign up, we store your email address. If you sign in with Google, Google also shares your name and profile picture, which we show in your account menu. If you sign in with email, we send you a one-time code or sign-in link.
We use this to create your account, sign you in, and contact you about your account (for example, important changes to the service). We don't send newsletters. If we ever add one, it will be opt-in.
Your plan and usage
We record which plan you're on and how much of it you've used this month: the video minutes you've processed and the number of exports. This is how we apply your plan's limits.
The content you upload and create
To make your clips, we store and process:
- Videos you upload, and the audio we extract from them.
- The transcript of each video (every word with its timestamp).
- The clips we cut, the AI's suggestions for each (hook word, viral score and the reason it was picked), and any caption edits you make.
- Songs you upload for background music, and where you place them in each clip.
- Anything you type into "What clips are you looking for?".
We use this content only to provide the service to you. We don't use it to train AI models, and we don't use it for advertising.
Billing information
Payments are handled by our reseller and merchant of record, Lemon Squeezy. Your card details go straight to them and never reach our servers. They share with us what we need to manage your subscription, such as your name, email address, country, plan, and payment status. Their own privacy policy applies to the payment itself.
Technical information
When you use VisionSnip, our servers receive your IP address, browser type, and the pages and requests you make. We use this to keep the service secure and running: to limit how many requests one person can make (rate limiting), to block abuse, and to fix errors. This information is kept in server logs for a limited time.
Emails you send us
If you contact us, we keep the conversation and your email address so we can help you and refer back to it later.
Who processes your data
We use a small number of providers to run VisionSnip. Each one receives only what it needs for its job:
| Provider | What it does | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Accounts, sign-in and our database | Your email, name, profile picture, plan, usage, transcripts, clip details and caption edits |
| Oracle Cloud | The server that processes and stores your files | Your uploaded videos, audio, clips and songs |
| Vercel | Hosts the website | Your IP address and the pages you visit |
| Groq | Transcription | The audio of your video |
| OpenRouter, routing to Google (Gemini) | Picks the clips from the transcript | The transcript text and your optional "what to look for" note |
| Resend | Sends sign-in emails | Your email address |
| "Sign in with Google" (only if you use it) | What Google sign-in normally shares | |
| Lemon Squeezy | Payments, taxes and invoices | Your billing details |
The AI providers (Groq and OpenRouter/Google) process your data to send the results back to us, under their API terms. We don't permit them to use it to train their models.
We don't sell or rent your personal information to anyone, and we don't share it with advertisers.
How long we keep it
Your files are deleted automatically, on a schedule that depends on your plan when you upload:
| Free | Plus | Pro | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Original video and its audio | 24 hours | 3 days | 30 days |
| Clips | 24 hours | 7 days | 30 days |
| Uploaded songs | 24 hours | 7 days | 30 days |
- The deletion date is set when you upload. Changing plan later doesn't change it for files you already have.
- Exported videos are not stored. We render them when you click Export, send them to your browser, and delete our copy immediately.
- As a safety net, no uploaded or generated file is kept on our server longer than 31 days.
- After a video's files are deleted, the video stays listed in My clips as expired, with its title, length and dates. Its transcript, clip details and caption edits stay in your account until you delete your account.
- Account data (email, name, plan, usage history) is kept while your account exists.
- Server logs are kept for a limited time for security and debugging, then deleted.
- Billing records are kept by Lemon Squeezy for as long as tax law requires.
Deleting your account: email us at support@maarijaqeel.com from the email address on your account. We'll delete your account and everything in it within 30 days. Copies may remain in our database provider's backups for a short time after that, until those backups expire.
Cookies and browser storage
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
- Sign-in cookies. Supabase sets cookies that keep you signed in. They are required for the service to work.
- Browser storage. The editor saves your caption and format settings in your browser so they're there next time. This never leaves your device.
- Google sign-in. If you use the "Sign in with Google" button, Google's script runs on the sign-in page and may set its own cookies, under Google's privacy policy.
If we add analytics in the future, we'll update this policy first.
When we access or disclose your information
Your videos are processed automatically. No person at VisionSnip looks at your content except in these cases:
- To help with a support request. We'll ask your permission before we look at your account.
- When an automated process fails and fixing it requires looking at a minimal amount of data.
- To investigate abuse. For example, if we receive a copyright complaint or a report of illegal content, or our systems detect activity that breaks our Terms of Service. If we find illegal content, we may report it to the appropriate authorities.
- When required by law. We disclose data only when legally compelled, such as by a valid court order. Where we're allowed to, we'll tell you before we disclose your data.
If VisionSnip is ever sold or merged with another company, we'll notify you before your personal information is transferred or becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you, and how we use and share it.
- Give you a copy of it, in a format you can take elsewhere. You can download your clips yourself at any time with Export.
- Correct it if it's wrong.
- Delete it, by deleting your account. Some information may have to be kept for legal reasons, for example billing records.
- Restrict or object to how we use it in certain cases.
To use any of these rights, email support@maarijaqeel.com from the address on your account. We may need to confirm your identity before we act. We won't treat you differently for using your rights.
If you're in the EU or UK, our legal bases for processing are:
- Providing the service you signed up for (contract). Your account, your content and your billing.
- Our legitimate interests. Security, rate limiting, preventing abuse, and fixing errors.
- Legal obligations. For example, tax records.
You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
If you're in California: we don't sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
How we secure your data
- All traffic between your browser and VisionSnip is encrypted with HTTPS.
- Every request is checked against your account, so only you can see your videos, clips and songs.
- Your files are only reachable through private links tied to a single file. Each link expires after a few hours.
- Our database only lets each signed-in user read their own records, and service passwords and keys stay on our servers.
No system is perfectly secure. If we ever learn of a breach that affects your data, we'll tell you as required by law.
Where your data is processed
Our processing server (Oracle Cloud, India West) and our database (Supabase) are both in Mumbai, India. Some of our providers process data in the United States (Vercel, Groq, OpenRouter and Resend). This means your data may be transferred outside your own country. When we use providers outside the EU or UK, we rely on their standard data protection terms, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, to protect it.
Children
VisionSnip is not for children. You must be at least 13 years old to use it. If you're in the EU or UK, you must be 16, or the age of digital consent in your country. If we learn that a child under that age has created an account, we'll delete it.
Changes and questions
We may update this policy as VisionSnip changes or as the law requires. When we make a significant change, we'll update the date at the top. If the change affects how we use your data, we'll also email you.
